A few weeks ago I did a post on how I believe car brands in South Africa are failing at social media. Smart USA has gone and proved that globally car brands are being very clever, and leveraging the platforms available.
The Start
Clayton Hove, a creative director from North Dakota, Tweeted:
‘Saw a bird had crapped on a Smart Car. Totaled it.’
Smart USA responded with a handy inforgraphic, detailing how Smart cars are strong and could only be destroyed by 4,5 million pigeon droppings. How epic?
The Result
Smarts Twitter account picked up a ton of traction around the Tweet, with #SmartResponse trending worldwide. The account also picked up around 500 followers in a few hours. Not bad for a basic inforgraphic!
