File it under “Only in Russia” (speak to Nash for this), authorities in the Russian city of Nizhniy Novgorod recently put up roadside billboards featuring a dummy covered in fake blood that appears to have crashed in an attempt to curb drinking and driving.
Featuring a dummy covered in fake blood that appears to have crashed through the billboards, they certainly illustrate a clear point while serving as a grim reminder to potential drunk drivers. The English translation of the Russian text attached to the billboard is roughly
“Your body could have been here”.
The officials got creative when building the billboard, adding a Santa Hat and putting a steering wheel in the dummy’s hands.
Although the billboards are extreme, they serve as a creative solution to a serious problem. Drunk driving is a major factor in many Russian car accidents, more so since 2003 when Russia moved the legal BAC limit from 0.00 to 0.05.
