Motoring Journalist of the Year 2012

My favourite car shot from Seagram Pearce’s portfolio – the BMW M3 Frozen edition

Last night the South African Guild of Motoring Journalists hosted their annual “Motoring Journalist of the Year” awards, acknowledging excellence in the field of motoring, motorsport and automotive photography journalism.

The Winners

  • Motoring Journalist of the Year: Lance Branquinho (Didn’t attend)
  • Photograph of the Year: Seagram Pearce (This dude has some HOT work!)
  • Photographer of the Year: Seagram Pearce (@SeagramPearce)

Line of the Night

Chairman of the SAGMJ, Danie van Jaarsveld was giving the opening address when he uttered the amazing line:

If you don’t win, don’t slader the competition. Rather work harder and enter again next year.

We need this attitude more and more in South Africa, both in motoring, at awards and just in general. Work harder and try again.

The Lessons

Work hard and you will win. Also, motoring journalists have really terrible fashion sense. There were a few people who pull off the smart or casual vibe, but more looked like they were forced into their brown and beige suits. Not cool

So to those who won, well done! Especially Seagram Pearce as I finally got to meet you. To those who didn’t win, take your presidents advice and try harder!
